4 Seasons Garden Maintenance collaborates with RWP
Latest news
The latest in our guest blog series features Grant Jones, Director of 4 Seasons Garden Maintenance – Growing Partnerships and Greener Communities.
Grant Jones was appointed as Director of 4 Seasons in 2021. He draws on over a decade of experience in grounds maintenance and landscaping. Since its incorporation in 2012, 4 Seasons has grown into a well-respected provider of garden care services across the North West. The 4 Seasons team works closely with housing providers such as Progress Housing Group, which RWP is part of, to deliver high-quality, reliable maintenance to a wide range of residential and supported living schemes.
Here, Grant talks about the day-to-day running of the business, the importance of well-maintained green spaces, and why collaboration is key to creating environments that tenants can enjoy and take pride in.
“It is about more than just maintenance; it’s about people and places. As Director, my role is to lead our team and ensure we consistently deliver excellent service across all our contracts. That involves maintaining high standards, being flexible and responsive, and always looking for ways to improve.
“At 4 Seasons, we work hard to ensure the gardens and outdoor spaces we look after are safe, attractive, and functional for the people living there. When you are working on supported living schemes, you understand that these spaces are about more than just appearance. They are places for connection, relaxation, and wellbeing. That is what drives us.”
Working with RWP
“We have worked with Progress Housing Group, which RWP is part of, for several years, providing regular garden and grounds maintenance across many of their properties. It is a partnership that has grown over time and continues to evolve.
“Our team carries out a full range of services, including grass cutting, hedge trimming, planting, and seasonal clean-ups. We also provide more specialist work when needed, such as replanting communal beds, installing raised planters, or preparing outdoor spaces for tenant use. The success of this partnership comes down to clear communication. We work closely with RWP to understand site-specific needs and respond quickly to any changes in priorities.”
Tailoring our approach to supported living schemes
“One of the most rewarding aspects of our work is maintaining gardens for supported living schemes. These sites often require a slightly different approach, with more attention to accessibility and greater awareness of how the space is used by tenants and staff.
We might include sensory planting, such as lavender and rosemary, or ensure there are wide, even paths for wheelchair users. We keep shrub beds tidy to improve visibility and security. When we work on-site, our team is always mindful and respectful of tenants’ routines and privacy.
Overcoming challenges and staying proactive
“Working outdoors presents its own challenges, from unpredictable weather to varying site conditions. Our team is experienced and proactive. We invest in training, use reliable equipment, and take pride in solving problems quickly and carefully.
“After last winter’s storms, we were able to respond quickly and carry out safety checks and clean-ups across several sites. This helped ensure communal areas were safe and accessible. That kind of responsiveness builds trust with our clients and confidence amongst the tenants.
Sustainability and community focus
“We place a strong focus on sustainability. Wherever possible, we use battery-powered equipment, recycle green waste, and use environmentally friendly methods to manage weeds and pests. Taking care of the environment is an essential part of taking care of the communities we serve.
“We also believe in giving back. We hire locally and support local employment, and we are exploring ways to involve tenants in light gardening or planting days. These activities can have social and therapeutic benefits, particularly in supported housing settings.
Looking ahead
“We are excited about the future and the continued growth of our relationship with RWP. We want to keep expanding the positive impact we can have. Our work is not just about maintaining outdoor spaces; it’s about helping to create places where people feel welcome, safe, and proud to live.
“When a tenant stops to tell us how much they enjoy the garden, or we see someone using a bench we have just uncovered, it reminds us why we do what we do.”
