A day in the life with RWP housing officer Cheryl

Latest news

RWP housing officer Cheryl recently visited homes in Nottingham and completed annual reviews, health and safety inspections. She also took time to check in with tenants and support staff, and helped with the moving out process.

First visit of the day

Monitoring property repairs

Cheryl completed an inspection of the refurbishment that was recently completed in the kitchen and checked on the repairs and new fittings in the tenants’ rooms. Cheryl spoke with tenants Tony and Richard about the kitchen and made sure that they were happy with the changes and that the appliances were in working order.

Checking in with tenant Tony

Cheryl sat down for a catch-up with Tony, and they chatted about his recovery after an eye operation, the social activities that he takes part in, and work that has been completed in his bedroom.

Tony shares his home with Richard, and they have both recently had their rooms decorated. Tony had red carpet fitted, a wardrobe and black chest of drawers installed, and a new door to replace a broken one. Tony is pleased with his new bedroom and said: “I got the small cabinet door and 50-inch TV.”

Tony has recently enjoyed spending time in the local community with his housemate Richard, including trips to the local pub and chatting with the bar staff. “I go to the pub with Richard, and we buy each other drinks sometimes. My favourite drink is coke with no ice”. Tony also attends the day centre and goes to a health centre for a massage every 4 to 6 weeks.

Choosing colour paints with tenant Richard

Cheryl invited tenants to a meeting to discuss paint colour options for their hall, lounge, and refurbished kitchen. Richard joined the meeting and reviewed the paint colour options. Cheryl provided lighting advice during the picking process, and welcomed Richard’s choices of blue and peach. She asked him which blue he preferred from the colour chart and recorded them in her action plan.
