“Thank you for making our new home so lovely”

Latest news

Our Housing Officer Ilir supported tenants James, Tom, Sam, and Adam to settle into their new home in Devon. Here he talks about the process and what was involved.

“I work in partnership with local commissioners and social workers to keep them updated about our voids in the Devon area. A social worker got in touch with me recently and enquired if I could help a support provider and their service users to move to one of our properties. I happily offered to help, spoke with the support provider about the possible move and next steps.

The property is a beautiful bungalow with a large garden and parking. One of the tenants has an en-suite room to fulfil his needs and the property comes with a fully furnished kitchen. After a few phone conversations with the service provider, I arranged a property viewing and following on from this, the support provider and tenants agreed to move in.

“To help the tenants with their move, I checked on any repairs needed and I also supported them with housing benefit claims. I provided information about RWP, and arranged meetings to assure staff that RWP is a responsible landlord that looks after its tenants and their well-being. I also provided details of the work we were going to complete before the tenants moved in. This included refurbishment of toilets, bathroom, new flooring, decorating, other maintenance works, and a deep clean.”

Feedback from tenants and staff

Support staff from Safebreaks have great feedback to share about Ilir and were surprised at how quick and easy the process has been moving tenants to an RWP property. The tenants are very happy with the support that Ilir has provided during the move and gave him a thank-you card with the message: “Thank you for making our new home so lovely”!
