Starts at Home Day 2024

Latest news

We are proud to support the National Housing Federation’s Starts at Home Day campaign. We are committed to raising awareness of supported housing and the impact supported living has on people’s lives.

Starts at Home Day 2024 takes place on 30 August and the campaign will run throughout the Autumn. It's a chance to connect with politicians and highlight the need for government investment in good quality supported housing, as well as a commitment to strategic local planning.

This year, the campaign is focused on the difference that having a safe and secure place to call home can make to people’s lives. You can find out more here

Our Managing Director Les Warren visited a supported living scheme in Penwortham, Lancashire to meet our tenants Ann and Paul, and their support team from South Ribble Domiciliary Service. He was joined by County Councillor, Graham Gooch who has a keen interest in how Lancashire County Council can support the work that we do.

Meeting our tenants

Paul led a tour of his home, and proudly showed off the refurbished garden and outdoor space. Ann was happy to show Les and Councillor Graham Gooch her amazing artwork that was on display at her home. “It was great to hear about how Ann is enjoying socialising with tenants and staff, and this has helped her well-being. Paul shared his love of cooking and how staff have helped him to develop cooking skills, improving his well-being and independence.

The bungalow, which RWP acquired and refurbished, has lots of design features to make every day living easier for tenants. We also incorporated elements into the design which provide tenants with outside space which we know is important. It is an example of shared supported living at its best,” says Les Warren.

Councillor Graham Gooch said: “This new development is just one of many supported living facilities which aim to meet people's needs, helping them to live independently with support, and improve well-being and health outcomes overall across our county.

Housing with care is an attractive alternative to traditional, long-term residential care which means people can live better lives, have better health outcomes and be supported with safer hospital discharges by the right care, in the right place and at the right time."

Supporting Starts at Home Day

“We have been associated with the National Housing Federation campaign for many years and we are happy to support it again this year. We are always keen to build links with politicians, councillors, and policy makers as they see the value of the work we do,” says Les Warren.
