You said, We did: caretaker support in large RWP supported living schemes

Latest news

We committed that supported living caretakers would provide support in large RWP supported living schemes. Here we share the positive impact caretaker Stephen has made on the lives of our tenants.

RWP caretaker Stephen

RWP caretaker Stephen provides support at our large supported living schemes in Leicester, including but not limited to, decorating, garden and household appliance maintenance, and assembling furniture and furnishings. Here Stephen shares how he has recently helped tenants and improved the quality and safety of their homes.

Redecorating: “I have redecorated a flat at one of the schemes, adding wallpaper to one wall and repainting the rest of the room. This allowed the tenant who lives there to have new flooring which freshened up his room and made it easier for staff to mop the floor.

Garden maintenance: “I have cleared a full fence of ivy, and over 100 sacks were filled and disposed of to get the fence repaired and made safe for the tenants.”

Furniture support: “I have erected several wardrobes, table and chairs, chest of draws etc. for the tenants at two supported living schemes.”

Repairs and furnishings: “I have re-painted the passageway walls at a scheme to freshen up the place. Tenants who live in one flat asked me to hang pictures, put mirrors up, take a cabinet down, and put up a cabinet. At another flat, I repaired a TV cabinet and cleaned the filters in the tenant’s tumble dryer as it was not working.”

Kitchen maintenance: “In the kitchen of the supported living home where tenant Paul lives, I painted the wall, took apart the radiator cover, and cleaned between all the radiator fins to make it more efficient. The cabinet was coming apart and unstable, so I screwed it back together and put extra legs in the centre to stop it from bowing more.”

Bathroom maintenance: “Tenants Andrew, Jeremy and Lee at one supported living scheme needed some maintenance work to be carried out. I removed the old cabinet from the bathroom, painted the wall, and replaced the cabinet with a mirror. Also, I painted the ceiling in the bathroom shower area, removing mould and flakes of paint.”

Jet washing: “One of the jet washing jobs I completed was required because the slabs outside were slippery when wet, so it was dangerous for the tenants as they still used it throughout the winter.”

Support staff share positive feedback

Support staff from Lifeways have recently shared great compliments about RWP caretaker Stephen and his work.

“May I say that Stephen is brilliant at his work. His skills are very extensive, and he is an amazing character. We as a team are so happy to share our service with him, and he is truly an asset to William Smith house,” says Atlaf, support worker at Lifeways.
